a big success for 240 attending

Six Christian churches in the area Tyrone Christian, Kenwood Christian, Fayetteville Christian, Peachtree City Christian, Jonesboro Christian and Heritage Christian got together last Sunday evening for the first Youth Rally, with many more to come.

Named "The Gathering," the event drew nearly 240 youth and adults and was held at Oak Grove Elementary School in Peachtree City.

A huge screen in one corner displayed the words of the many songs sung. Songs were led by Derek Sweatman, Minister of Youth at the Peachtree City Christian Church.

Playing in accompaniment were a band of youth from the church. A McIntosh High School student, Cory Procter, played a guitar and sang for the group.

Because the rally met with such success, one will be held each month. The next one will be Oct. 25 at the Tyrone Christian Church at 6 p.m. The next is planned for Nov. 22 at the Peachtree City Christian Church, 6 p.m.

Sweatman says all churches in the area are invited to send youth groups to participate. He says he considers the "unity" of the people of Christ to be an important mission for young people, and that what they can learn now about other Christians will be valuable. For information call Sweatman at 770-487-9711.
