Lady Panthers and Chiefs spiked in Cobb Co. Tourney

The Cobb County Invitational volleyball tournament was
not friendly to the local teams that participated. The Starr's
Mill Lady Panthers won one match and lost the other three
matches this past weekend. Starr's Mill faced Etowah on Thursday
and won in three sets,15-8, 12-15, 15-9. The Lady Panthers lost the
rest of their matches in two sets. They faced Harrison after their
win against Etowah and lost 15-7 and 15-8. On Saturday, Starr's
Mill faced Notre Dame High School and lost 15-12 and 15-7
followed by a loss to North Springs, 15-7 and 15-10.There was
positive play from Terri Cobb, who played excellent at the net and
Delayna Backowski, Starr's Mill's highest scorer for the tournament.
McIntosh won two out of their four matches. They lost
to Decatur and Woodward on Thursday night. The match
with Decatur went three sets, with the Lady Chiefs losing 19-17.
The team appeared mentally tired and it was that loss which kept
the team from advancing.The loss to Woodward was by a score of
15-6 and 15-9. McEachern took McIntosh to three sets on
Saturday with the Lady Chiefs winning, 15-10, 8-15, 15-13.
Katie and Kelly Powers served to bring the team out of a six point
hole. In their final game of the tournament McIntosh defeated
Cedar Shoals in two sets, 15-7 and 15-9. Erika Snelling and
Vanessa Contreras were the Lady Chiefs leading scorers.
