Tigers roar past Cougars by 3

Team: Fayette County Tigers

Coach: Clint Burton

Record: 2-0

Last Week: beat Newnan 24-21

Key Players: RB Wes Clark, 177 yds on 28 carries, 2 TD's, OL/DE Jeff Barnes, OL/DL Aaron Lusk, OL/DL Mac Steil

Injuries: None.

Notes: The Newnan Cougars were one of the top teams in the region. The win puts the Tigers in position to play some big games later this season. The offense moved the ball on every possession and QB Gerald Johnson led the team to the right plays, complementing the running game very well, proving the Tigers have a lot of ammunition and are loaded in every area.

Coach's Quote: "In the first week, we were scared to give up the big plays. We didn't give up the big plays this week, but we must force some turnovers."

This week: vs LaGrange (2-0)

Chiefs suffer loss at hand of Grangers

Team: McIntosh Chiefs

Coach: Clint Ashmore

Record: 0-2

Last Week: lost to LaGrange, 35-8

Key Players: WR D.J. Dunlap, 5 receptions, 1 TD, Jarrod Currin, played solidly on defense, TE Lucas Smith, RB/LB Kelechukwu Oparah.

Injuries: None.

Notes: RB Dion Stokes was kept out of Friday's game, due to a head shot he received the week before. Oparah ran in his place and was the team's top rusher in their loss. The defense was once again put in bad field position by the offense and the special teams.

Coach's Quote: "We put forth a good effort against an excellent team. These two losses are good experiences and get us ready for the rest of the season."

This week: vs Carver (0-2)

East Coweta improves to 2-0

Team: East Coweta

Coach: Danny Cronic

Record: 2-0

Last week: defeated Lovejoy, 26-20

Key players: QB Dantra Clements, 2 passing TD's and a TD run, RB Marvin Smith, TD run, Kevin Zackery and David Sepanski both played well on both sides of the ball.

Injuries: Derrick Canty (questionable), W.J. Jordan (hurt shoulder, questionable).

Notes: The Indians have their share of bumps and bruises after playing a very tough and physical Lovejoy team. Clements and Smith were big on offense again and a number of players played well, including Derrick Holloway and Eric Emerson.

Quote: "Lovejoy is a very talented team. They showed improvement from their first game to their second game and from the first half of this game to the second half. I am just glad it's over."

This Week: vs Newnan (1-1)

Patriots hang on to beat Henry County

Team Sandy Creek Patriots

Coach: Don Tyre

Record: 1-1

Last week: Beat Henry County, 8-6

Key Players: RB J.R. Lemon, 17 carries for 140 yds, TD, QB Chris Sizemore, 6 of 8 for 55 yds, RB Wes Zehms, 6 carries for 42 yds, DE Austin Vann, huge on defense

Injuries: DL/OL Toby Teal (questionable)

Notes: Starting corners Josh Harrison and Dusty Peppers both did not play in Friday's victory. Sophomores Chris Kallatsa and Mark Lawson played well under the circumstances and put forth a great effort. The Patriots put up 269 yds offensively, an enormous improvement to their 50 total yards the week before. The defense stymied many long Henry County drives, including a drive that lasted 8:30 and resulted in no Warhawk points.

Quote: "There was a sizable improvement, relative to the opponent. Henry County was a big and strong team and our defensive front put forth a great effort."

This week: at Eagle's Landing (0-2)

Record: 0-2

Last week: lost to Morrow, 42-17

Key Players: Clint Barber, defensive player of the week, RB Greg Maddock, RB LaDon Cooper, K Evan Greeson, 34 yard FG.

Injuries: None.

Notes: Greg Maddock and LaDon Cooper combined for 192 yards rushing against the Mustangs. Clint Barber played well on both sides of the ball. The Panthers committed four turnovers.

Quote: "We played hard and now we must eliminate the turnovers. This team is eager to get into the win column."

This week: at Henry County (0-2)

War Eagles don't Lovett

Team: Landmark Christian War Eagles

Coach: Bill Thorn

Record: 0-2

Last week: lost to Lovett,21-0

Key Players: QB C.R.Palmer, RB/DE James Barker, RB/DL Rasaan Davis

Injuries: C.R. Palmer (questionable with a sprained ankle).

Notes: The War Eagles were inside the 10 yard line three times in the first half and could not score. In the second half, Landmark still moved the ball well. Unfortunately, they made several mistakes which put them in a hole. C.R. Palmer missed half of the game with a sprained ankle but still turned in an excellent performance.

Quote: "We played better than before. The team played hard and didn't quit. This weekend we play Heard County in a battle of two teams looking for a win."

This week: vs Heard County (0-2)
