Letters from Our Readers
Recently I read an article on the perils of bicycling in Atlanta. It brought back vivid memories. I lived in
Virginia-Highland for a number of years, and bicycled regularly on the mean streets of the city.
We moved to Peachtree City four years ago for a number of reasons, not the least of which is less traffic, and a less
hectic and more courteous life style.
I still continue to bicycle, now more than ever. My fellow riders and I ride about four times a week and cover the roads
of Brooks, Senoia, Peachtree City, Fayetteville, etc. Though there are still plenty of cars, trucks, etc., 99 percent of the
drivers are very thoughtful when approaching and passing us.
I know it can be frustrating for some drivers in a hurry to get to work, home, or the store, but I thank you for your patience.
We appreciate you not trying to brush us with your sideview mirror; waiting to pass when you can see, rather than
cutting us off when you want to hurry around; and most of all for not "standing" on the horn when coming up behind us.
I know there are some discourteous bicyclists as well as motorists, but for the most part it is a pleasure to ride our
local highways.
Once again, thank you for your patience and sharing part of the road.
