Residents tour new Arbor Springs course

Arbor Springs Plantation Golf Club invited residents, builders and guests to partake in the "Partly Open," a six hole tour of the new course with participants following a Ft. Lauderdale format. On Aug. 1, golf carts were lined up in front of the resident's clubhouse ready to take golfers to the first tee.

Due to heavy rains the night before, the course was too muddy to play as planned. So golf course general manager Steve Abbe led the caravan of players on a tour of all eighteen holes. Everyone was abuzz with comments as they stood on the tee boxes and looked down the fairway.

"This course will force you to use every club in your bag," said resident David Scruggs.

Guest and television host Johnny Brown commented that the course was simply outstanding, filled with character, and will cause the best golfers to think before pulling clubs out of their bag.

Builders Josh Steed and Mike Langholtz of Chris Parrot Homes both stated that the course was awesome, had incredible vistas and would present a challenge to each golfer.

Over lunch at the clubhouse following the tour, Abbe said that the goal of S.A. Golf, Inc. in building the course was to try and enhance the natural features that the land had given them, using hills, ravines, and rock outcroppings. Sbbe saif that this course will be one of the finest in the Atlanta area.

Seeding will begin in September of this year and play is scheduled to start in the spring of 1999.
