Letters from Our Readers
In response to the recent letter stating that "Peachtree City's
finest prey on the people of Peachtree City," I'd like to offer a
view that more likely represents the majority of residents.
Over the nine years that I've lived here, I have been very
impressed with the Peachtree City Police Department. Over the
last year in particular, I've had numerous dealings with them.
I've always found them to be professional, knowledgeable
and helpful. They seem to take pride in serving and protecting
the people of this town. The police are obviously doing a great job
as evidenced by the many honors and special certifications
they have received, as well as by our low crime rate.
Personally, I have great respect for any man or woman who
may, in the line of duty, risk injury or loss of life to protect
someone else. And, they do all this for a pitifully low salary.
In regards, to their "inability" to catch the black bear, Mr.
Sherry may not have realized that the police were under orders not
to interfere with the bear unless it threatened people or property.
It did neither, and so was simply monitored as it crossed
through our town. The police did a fine job of both warning citizens
and not causing unnecessary damage to the animal.
To Mr. Sherry, could it be that your three tickets a year and
$350 golf cart fine are the result of your own misdeeds and
misjudgments, not those of the Peachtree City Police Department?
To the Peachtree City police, a heartfelt "thank you" for all
you do. Please keep up the good work.
