Property owners in the area of what could become Peachtree City's fifth village are invited to "dialogue" with city officials tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
City officials explained that the meeting aims at bringing together citizens, developers of property which might be annexed to the city, and local planners, to discuss a "master plan" for the 1,200-acre
development site, commonly known now as "West Village."
Betsy Tyler, the city's public information specialist, noted that development services director Jim Williams will give an overview and history of the area. Council members and citizens are expected to give opinions
toward forming a master plan which would preclude piecemeal development and parcel-by-parcel annexation, she added.
Most of the area to be discussed is in unincorporated Fayette, Tyler said, and would require zoning changes for certain uses. She said "some of the property owners are drawing up plans" and appear ready to
approach either the county or Peachtree City with zoning applications, so the council felt that a community meeting is important at this time.
At last week's Peachtree City Council meeting, a major connector road to be called "Line Creek Parkway" was approved for construction by developers of the Cedarcroft subdivision. The city will connect
Line Creek Parkway to an east-west road to Wynnmeade subdivision, to be paid for by the city.
After the Wynnmeade road is completed, according to the development agreement approved last week by City Council, the parties "will mutually cooperate to attempt to relocate the traffic light currently
located at Wynnmeade and Ga. Highway 54 to the intersection of Line Creek Parkway ... the cost of the relocation will be borne by the developers."
The parkway would have an 80-foot right-of-way, a lane each direction and a landscaped median.
