Prime Timer Club boasts membership over 2,000 citizens By JANET McGREGOR
Contributing Writer
You won't be bored with a monotone speaker when attending Fayette County Bank's Prime Timer Club events. According to Nancy Price, club coordinator and marketing officer, "Variety and entertainment are two important qualities I look for when planning our bimonthly events."

The club's most recent speaker, Dr. "D," an Atlanta area chiropractor, spent approximately 35 minutes telling jokes, anecdotes, humorous tidbits and doing impressions about the value of laughter while dealing with stress. As part of his presentation, he held a 'laughing contest' which was won by Annie Walters. His talk ended on a high note as the entire room joined Dr. "D" in a rousing rendition of the song, "When You're Smiling."

The Prime Timer Club, which was started in 1994 by Price, currently boasts a membership of over 2,000.

"Luncheons and breakfasts have become so popular that it's difficult to find a location in Fayette County that can accommodate us," Price said.

The standard attendance for any event is 150 with a waiting list.

The luncheon Aug. 27 will be held at Whitewater Country Club off Redwine Road in Fayetteville. The program will include a talk by Mary Long, author of the book "Old Georgia Privies."

Ms. Long, acclaimed author and "Priviologist" will entertain the group with her knowledge of the evolution of the outhouse. The day's activities will also include an overview of upcoming trips and events.

Social activities and motor coach trips are an important part of the Prime Timer Club's offerings. Price takes special care to "plan a wide variety of events for this dynamic group." Day trips, theater trips, and motor coach and international travel are planned for club members.

August's trips include traveling to Atlanta to see "Camelot" at the Fox Theater and the "Gone With the Wind Whirlwind Tour."
