Today is D-Day for businesses in Peachtree City.

The Aug. 5 deadline to have the new color-coded smoking ordinance signs posted has arrived. Patrons will now identify businesses and public facilities as smoke-free with a green sign, smoke-present with a red sign, or smoke-ventilated with a blue sign.

Businesses not posting an appropriate sign and patrons not heeding the signs are now subject to a warning and subsequent violation, up to a $1,000 fine.
