Bad Links? | 3 finalists named for PTC tourism chiefBy JOHN MUNFORD The Peachtree City Tourism Association has whittled down the number of candidates for its executive director position to three people. The three finalists will be interviewed by the association Saturday, officials said. The finalists are: David Lyons, the director of tourism and conventions for the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce in Anniston, Ala. Lauren Yawn, the executive director of the Statesboro (Ga.) Convention and Visitors Bureau. Luci Ismert, the executive director of the Fairfield, Iowa Convention and Visitors Bureau. The association has used industry Web sites to conduct a nationwide search over the past three months. The directors position has been vacant since June, when Linda McCarthy resigned to take another job. McCarthy was the associations first executive director. The association operates the Peachtree City Tennis Center and the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater, both facilities which are owned by the City of Peachtree City. Murray Weed, chairman of the Tourism Association, said the board is very excited about each of the three finalists. Each one has extensive marketing and sponsorship generation experience and has the qualities necessary to take the amphitheater and tennis center, as well as tourism in Peachtree City to the next level, Weed said. |
