Bad Links? | PFH encourages residents to get fitTake your first step today towards getting physically fit by joining the Piedmont Fayette Hospital Fitness Center. Throughout the month of October, in recognition of National Physical Therapy Month, the Center will waive its initiation fee. The Fitness Center is open to people of all ages and fitness levels. Many of the hospitals patients experiencing short- or long-term debilitation also undergo physical therapy there. And unlike traditional gyms, members of the Piedmont Fayette Hospital Fitness Center get help along their fitness journey. Exercise physiologists are available in the Center and assist members with using various equipment and machines. Whether youre recovering from surgery and need rehabilitative care, or you are a senior who wants to get moving for better health, the Fitness Center has something for everyone, said Jill Fenimore, director of rehabilitation and fitness. Seniors are encouraged to add physical activity to their daily routine to reduce their risk of stroke, high blood pressure, arthritis and osteoporosis. Today, one in six Americans, or 44 million people, is 60 years of age or older. There is a critical need to educate this segment of the population about healthy living as many are at risk of losing their independence because of chronic diseases and other health problems.
