PTC plans holiday event

Peachtree City officials are planning a “tour of lights” on the cart path circling Lake Peachtree the first weekend of December.

The tour will take place after a special holiday concert at the city’s amphitheater, according to Mayor Steve Brown. In addition to the concert, there will be a silent auction of fully lit and decorated Christmas trees donated by area businesses.

Following the “Trail of Lights,” the new Christmas tree at City Hall will be lit and Santa Claus will cruise by to visit with the children.

The Recreation Department has contacted residents who live on the lake’s border, asking them to put special Christmas light displays along the cart path, Brown said. Recognizing that many senior citizens live in the area, the city is offering to assist them in erecting their light displays, Brown noted.

“If they need us to put their lights out, we’ll help them,” Brown said. “We don’t need to have them up on a ladder. That’s dangerous.”

Brown said the city might seek donated Christmas lights for residents who live in the area but can’t afford them.
