Bad Links? | Chamber members attend Fly-InMembers of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce joined over 70 business leaders and Chamber Executives from across Georgia at the annual Washington Fly-In, held Sept. 14-16 in the U.S. Capitol. Andy Macke (Comcast Cable Communications), Scott Bradshaw (The Bradshaw Company), Delvonnie Burgess (Public Policy Development of the Southeast Region, Inc), Mike Jablonski (BB&T Mortgage) and Virginia Gibbs (Chamber President) joined forces with the Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (GACCE) and the Georgia Chamber to meet with a variety of elected officials in Washington D.C. The trip began with the Georgia Chamber's annual Congressional and Staff Appreciation Reception for the entire Georgia delegation in Washington, which more than 400 people attended. The purpose of the reception was to thank the Georgia delegation for their dedication and hard work throughout the year. Then Fayette Chamber members spent the next two days in meetings with Senators Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss, Representatives Lynn Westmoreland and David Scott, and in special meetings discussing issues such as Hurricane Katrina relief, healthcare and tort reform, trade issues and some specific training on effective advocacy tips. The trip culminated with a nighttime tour of the Monuments. The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce is an association of businesses and organizations that work together to promote economic prosperity and to enhance excellent quality of life through strong leadership, networking, education and a variety of programs that encourage partnerships between businesses and our community. |
