Bad Links? | ObituariesThomas Jerry Cannon Sr.Thomas Jerry Cannon Sr., 68, Arnco, died Sept. 26, 2005. He was born Nov. 3, 1936 in Coweta County, son of William and Mattie Lucille Cannon. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Rachel Cannon. He enjoyed singing and playing his guitar and was especially fond of Johnny Cash tunes. He played cards and dominos every chance he got, and was known as Weed-Eater to his CB audience. Memorial services were at Jones Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Rick Duncan officiating. Survivors include sons, Jerry and Charlsie Cannon Jr., Phil and Pam Cannon, Larry and Tina Cannon, and Ray Cannon, all of Newnan: a daughter, Debra Cannon and James Mabry, Sharpsburg; brothers, Richard Cannon, Troy Cannon, and Phillip R. Cannon; a sister, Linda Mauldin; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Jones Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge. Herbert P. WellbornHerbert P. Wellborn, 84, Sharpsburg, died Sept. 30, 2005. He was born in 1921 in Madison, Georgia, son of Jesse and Sue Wellborn. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Wellborn, and a sister, Thelma Towler. After graduating from high school he worked on the farm until enlisting in the United States Army, In World War II, he was in the Signal Corps building and maintained telephone lines for General Mark Clarks Fifth Army. He served in North Africa and Italy. After returning home, he continued to farm in Madison until moving to Atlanta, where he ran a milk delivery route. He later owned and operated Laundry and Dry Cleaning service routes. Before retirement, he and his wife moved to Winter Haven Florida, owning and operating a coin laundry. In 1998 they moved to Sharpsburg to be near family. Services were at the Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert McCurry officiating. Interment was at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, with military honors. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ann Wellborn; daughters, Paulette and DeWayne Thomas, Fairburn, and Judy and Jim Baxter, Hahira; and a sister, Martha Malcolm, Covington. Jones Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge. Mirian Hill LongMiriam Hill Long, 88, Fairburn, died Sept. 27, 2005. She was born July 21, 1917 in Fayette County, daughter of James Edward and Emma Evans Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James Ernest Long. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Barry Johnson and the Rev. Lewis Adkinson officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill Memorial Park, Fairburn. Survivors include daughters, Gloria Ann and Thomas Blocker, and Donna and Sid Waters, all of Fairburn, Elaine and Farouk Brania, and Sue Ellen Long, all of Dunwoody; brothers, Marvin Bus Hill, Fayetteville, and Robert Hill, Winder, Ga.; grandchildren, T. L. Walker, Melissa Spence, Brad Dyche, Keith Dyche, and Kevin Love; and great-grandsons, Brandon Dyche, Jared Dyche, and Jackson Love. Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge. Kenneth Hubert CrookKenneth Hubert Crook, 40, Senoia, died September 30, 2005. He was born April 29, 1965 in Spalding County. He was the manager of Crooks Tire Center in Senoia. Services will be at the Senoia United Methodist Church on Wednesday, October 5, with the Rev. Dr. Danny Barton officiating. Interment will be at the Senoia City Cemetery. Survivors include his parents, W. Ellis and Patricia Yarbrough Crook; a brother, Greg and Janet Crook, Peachtree City; a sister, Cheryl and John Thompson, Senoia; a nephew, Gregory E. Crook; and a niece, Jordan Crook. McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, is in charge.
