Religion BriefsHoly Trinity hosting dinners for Katrina victimsHoly Trinity Roman Catholic Church will host Wednesday night dinners for families affected by hurricane Katrina from 5:30 until 7 p.m. Dinners are planned for Sept. 28, and Oct. 5, 12, 19 and 26. Fall picnic set at Community ChristianCommunity Christian Church in Fayetteville will host a fall picnic featuring food, fun and fellowship Saturday, Oct. 1. beginning at 2 p.m. The church is at 349 Kenwood Rd.
North Fayette UMC will have Fall Festival Oct. 1The Board of Stewards at North Fayette United Methodist Church will sponsor a Fall festival Saturday, Oct. 1 at the church. The event will feature a community barbecue with barbecued chicken, Brunswick stew, and all the fixins. In addition, there will be a craft sale and a rummage sale. Flat Creek to host farewell reception for DavisA farewell reception for Scott Davis, minister of music at Flat Creek Baptist Church, will be held Sunday Oct. 2, from 2-4 p.m.,to show the congregations appreciation for his more than 20 years of service. Blessing of the Animals service plannedA Blessing of the Animals Service at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will be held Sunday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. at the upper parking lot under the shade trees. The event will include music, readings and an individual blessing for each of the animals. Those who are unable to bring their animals are invited to attend also. Whitewater Baptist plans cemetery memorialWhitewater Baptist Church will have a memorial service in the cemetery Sunday, Oct. 2, to honor the memory of those buried there. Following the 11 a.m. worship, the congregation will host a covered dish dinner, followed by the memorial service at 1:30 p.m. The community is invited to attend, especially those who have loved ones buried in the cemetery.
The Rock to offer health screenings Oct. 5Lifeline Screening will be at The Rock Baptist Church to provide health screenings Wednesday, Oct. 5. Screenings will be available for stroke/carotid artery abnormalities, abdominal aortic aneurysm, peripheral arterial disease and osteoporosis.
