Bad Links? | Locals have an impact for their college football teams By MICHAEL BOYLAN Ryan Barr, a Starrs Mill gradaute, got some playing time for Bloomsburg University, in their 63-0 win over Lock Haven. Larry Beard, a Sandy Creek graduate, had an assist for Georgia Southern in their 21-17 loss to Wofford. Brian Brown, a Sandy Creek graduate, had an assist for the University of Delaware in their 42-21 win over West Chester. Darrell Burston, a Starrs Mill graduate, had one tackle and one tackle for a loss for Florida State in the Seminoles 28-17 win over Boston College. Charles Castleberry, a McIntosh graduate, got some playing time in the University of Minnesota, Crookstons 47-0 loss to Augustana. John Deraney, a Fayette County graduate, had two field goals, six extra points and four punts for 192 yards for NC State in their 54-0 win over Eastern Kentucky. Jason Earwood, a Starrs Mill graduate, had four tackles and three assists, for Georgia Southern in their 21-17 loss to Wofford. Johnny Edwards, a Starrs Mill graduate, had some playing time in Wake Forests 44-34 win over East Carolina. Joshua Haney, a Sandy Creek graduate, has seen some playing time for The Citadel this season. Andrew Gardner, a Sandy Creek graduate, started at left tackle for Georgia Tech in their 28-13 win over the University of Connecticut. Kedric Golston, a Sandy Creek graduate, had one tackle for the University of Georgia in their 44-7 win over Louisiana-Monroe. Calvin Johnson, a Sandy Creek graduate, had three catches for 75 yards and a touchdown for Georgia Tech in their 28-13 win over the University of Connecticut. Brett McCullough, a Sandy Creek graduate, is off to a great start for Virginia Union University. He has 10 tackles, seven assists, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble thus far. Alex Mortensen, a Landmark Christian School graduate, threw for 38 yards, a touchdown and an interception for Arkansas in the Razorbacks 70-17 loss to USC. Billy Price, a graduate of Starrs Mill, had three tackles in Centre Colleges 36-25 win over Kenyon University in Gambier, Ohio Sept. 10. Riley Swanson, a Sandy Creek graduate, had four tackles in Wake Forests 44-34 win over East Carolina. Is somebody missing?
