Bad Links? | Revival, revival, revival
In the life of a Christian, nothing excites a believer more than the word revival. Many of my fondest memories growing up in a Christian home were the times when our church would decide to have a revival. This was a time when all of the church would be energized at all levels. We would pull out all the stops (a church organ saying) and start the revival process and programs. Our pastor would begin a preaching series on revival and what it can mean in a church. The Sunday school would be teaching lessons on the subject. Our youth group would do the same. Visitation increased with great fervor, and revival flyers went out everywhere. Revival means to bring something back to life, or to bring something that was unconscious, back to consciousness! With all that besets us these days we need to know that God is in control and that this old world is in His hands. We have a beautiful picture in the foyer of our church with God reaching out to man and man reaching out to God It is by Leonardo Da Vinci. It speakes to me every time I see it. In the aftermath of Katrina, I had mentioned to my wife, Dee, that maybe we should hold off and move our revival to a later date because of all the suffering we see along the Gulf Coast, but her answer to me made sense. She said, The church needs to be revived at any time with its compassion for people at any time in history to do Gods bidding, no matter what our local circumstances may be. As you know, we are still in a mission status but have our new sanctuary built and are very proud of it in the best sense of the word. It sits on 15 acres and is in a good growth area right across the Fayette County line in Coweta County. There are homes being built all around us, all the time, and we strongly feel God has placed us in a strategic place for times such as these. Dr. Oscar Cope, a longtime friend, will be preaching the revival and a longtime military friend, Emanuel Williams, will be performing his talented revival music. He can take you to the throne room of God with his anointed piano music. If that isnt more than you can stand, we will be ordaining into the Gospel ministry Brian Brimer as our associate pastor Sunday during the morning worship, followed by one of our now-famous covered dish dinners. If life gets better than this, dont tell me about it. I probably will not be able to stand it. The revival will start Sunday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m. and will go through Wednesday night. There will be no Sunday night service but each night, Monday through Wednesday we will meet at 7:00 PM. Children are also welcome and there will be programs called Revival Ranch for grades K-5. This will be a short and sweet article. Bottom line is, Come and be a part of Gods wonderful work here on earth. Or to put it another way, Yall come, youll be glad you did! (The churchs Web site is under construction temporarily and will be up and running again shortly.) [Dr. Knox Herndon is the pastor of His House Community Church (SBC). Dr. Dee Herndon is the Sunday School superintendent, Bible study coordinator and teacher. The church is located on GA. Highway 85 South near Senoia. As you leave Fayetteville going South on Hwy. 85, you cross Ga. Highway 16 at the Senoia intersection. It is a mile on the right just below the fire station.
