Bad Links? | Crash victim still in hospitalBy JOHN MUNFORD A passenger in a serious car wreck in Tyrone Monday evening remained in Grady Hospital Thursday afternoon, officials said. Kenosha Thornton, 15, of 855 Wagon Wheel Way in north Fayette County, was in the back seat of a car when it was struck by another vehicle while making a turn off Ga. Highway 74, police said. Thornton and the driver of the vehicle, Crystal Monique McDonald 17, of 145 Winterberry Ridge in north Fayette County, were both flown to Grady Hospital, officials said. McDonald was later released. Thorntons condition was unavailable Thursday afternoon. Another passenger also was injured in the crash: Orleana Kafi Winston, 17, of 430 Benjamin Circle Road. According to the preliminary accident report, McDonalds 1995 Mitsubishi Mirage was going south on Hwy. 74 when it turned left onto Carriage Oaks, into the path of a 1995 Volvo T5R driven by Matthew Paul Arsenault, 22, of Fairburn. Arsenaults vehicle, heading northbound, struck the passengers side of McDonalds car, police said. Multiple witnesses confirmed the circumstances of the crash, police said. McDonald was ejected from the vehicle during the collision, which occurred just before 6:30 p.m., police said. The highway was shut down for some time so the victims could be assisted and the medical helicopters could land, police said. |
