Bad Links? | Local teams have busy few days on the court, face top teams By MICHAEL BOYLAN Sandy Creeks volleyball team picked up wins over Eagles Landing and Lovejoy at Eagles Landing High School last Thursday. The Lady Patriots beat Eagles Landing 25-19 and 25-16, while defeating Lovejoy 25-17 in both games. Olympia Haney led the team with nine kills and seven aces, while lauren Belyeu recorded 18 assists, marie Auers had 15 digs and Jessie Ruple added two blocks. Sandy Creek traveled to Creekside High School last night after the paper went to press to take on Creekside, Northgate and Woodward Academy. Woodward is currently ranked first in AAAA. Mcintosh, currently ranked third in AAAA, defeated Lakeside, DeKalb and Marietta last Thursday. On Saturday, the Lady Chiefs beat Sequoyah, 25-19, 25-21 and McEachern, 25-11, 25-18 before falling to Starrs Mill 26-24 and 25-21. McIntosh hosted Whitewater, Mays and Washington last night after the paper went to press. Whitewater fell to Sequoyah, 25-10 and 25-13 and Roswell, 25-18 and 25-8 last Thursday. After defeating McIntosh on Saturday, Starrs Mill beat Kennesaw Mountain, 25-17 and 25-18 before losing to Milton, 25-23 and 25-19. They also had wins over Campbell, 25-13 and 25-7, and Kell, 25-6, 25-16 on Thursday before falling to Savannah Christian 25-19, 27-25 on Friday. Starrs Mill hosted Newnan and Houston County last night after the paper went to press. Landmark Christian faced some stiff out of state competition over the weekend and had some tough losses. The Lady War Eagles lost to both Grissom, Ala., 14-25, 25-21, 9-15 and Centennial, Tenn., 20-25, 25-7, 12-15 on Friday. On Saturday, Landmark Christian faced Woodward Academy and lost 20-25, 25-14, 15-7. Our Lady of Mercy took on Holy Innocents last Thursday and lost, 21-25, 25-23, 15-25, 25-22, 22-25. The Lady Bobcats took on Grady and Landmark Christian at Grady last night after the paper went to press. |
