Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge. James Mark Norton Jr.James Mark Norton Jr., 80, Senoia, died Sept. 4, 2005. He was born July 4, 1925 in Haralson County. He was retired from Ford Motor Company, Hapeville Assembly Plant, with 35 years of service. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. William Bill Brannon officiating. Interment was at Sherwood Memorial Park, Jonesboro. Survivors include his wife, Cora Noble-Norton, Senoia; children, Gail N. Hicks, McDonough, Terry Mark Norton, Hampton, Deborah N. Dyer, Riverdale, and B. Denise Chambers, Fayetteville; a brother, Jerry Hannah Norton, Oxford; a sister, Myrtle Ann Miles, Conyers; grandchildren, Dustin Mark Norton, Nichols Neal Norton, Dawn N. Dyer, Kimberly M. Mahaffey, and Kristen L. Gosdin; and great-granddaughter, Allison L. Mahaffey. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge. Walter Joseph ShaltisWalter Joseph Shaltis, 82, Fayetteville, died Aug. 9, 2005, as a result from a fall. He was born March 29, 1923 in Cicero Ill. He was the son of Joseph and Mary Shaltis, who were born in Lithuania. He was graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in electrical engineering and worked for the Department of Defense for 33 years in the Washington, D.C. area. He spent 13 years working in Japan for the Army Motion Picture Services. When he retired from the Federal government he was a substitute high school teacher in Fairfax, Va. He lived in Spartanburg, S. C. 6 years, and moved to Fayetteville in 1997. He enjoyed all kinds of golfing activities and for the last 7 years, worked at his neighborhood golf course. He was cremated and had a burial at sea off the coast of Los Angeles County, Calif. on Aug. 24, 2005. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Eleanor Shaltis; daughters, Mary Shaltis, Atlanta, Leanne Fallin, Herndon, Va., Christine Shaltis, Bend, Ore., and Wendy West, Warrenton, Va.; grandchildren, Ashley, Kyle, Jake, Kara, and Jay; and a sister, Ruth Shaltis, Minnetonka, Minn. |
