Bad Links? | Starrs Mill and McIntosh have good week on the diamond By MICHAEL BOYLAN Starrs Mill has won four games in a row and in the process of establishing their longest winning streak of the short season, their bats are apparently coming alive. The Lady Panthers have scored 29 runs in their last four games, while only allowing one run. In their most recent game, Starrs Mill defeated Lovejoy in six innings. Amanda Howett got the win, pitching a complete game and striking out 11 batters. Holly Oglesbee drove in three runs in the victory, while Lindsey Walker went 2-for-2 at the plate and drove in a run. Lauren Marchman also went 2-for-2 and had three stolen bases in the win. McIntosh, which fell to Starrs Mill 7-0 on Saturday, turned things around this week with an 11-1 region win over Lithia Springs on Tuesday and a 6-2 win over rival Fayette County on Wednesday. The Lady Chiefs were scheduled to meet Whitewater yesterday after the paper went to press. Next week, McIntosh will host Newnan at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, while Starrs Mill will play at Brookwood at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday and at Mundys Mill at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. | |
