Bad Links? | Cartwright shatters records, wins Southern Zone titlesFayette Countys own Lauren Cartwright recently competed in Houston, Texas at the Southern Zone Championships held Aug. 2 - 6. She was selected to represent Georgia at the Zone Championships from her performance at Georgia Senior State Championships. Cartwright, a junior at Starrs Mill High School, became a Southern Zone Champion in the 200 butterfly, 200 freestyle, and 200 Individual Medley. She shattered Southern Zone Meet Records in the 200 freestyle and 200 Individual Medley. Cartwright also qualified for the Senior National Championships and Olympic Trials making her the first Fayette County female swimmer in history to reach those standards. The first swimmer from Fayette County to qualify for the Olympic Trials was Billy Jamerson. Both swimmers represent the Southern Crescent Aquatic Team located in Peachtree City. The fall season begins in late August for the Southern Crescent Aquatic Team. For more information call 678-521-9450. |
