Mowell chapel with Rick Derby officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include her parents, Forrest G. and Faye L. Strickland, Sharpsburg; a son, William Edward Eddy Haislip, Fayetteville; a daughter, Wendi Leigh Haislip, Griffin; grandchildren, Cassie Marie Varnes, John Darrell Varnes, and Hannah Haislip; a brother, Forrest A. James Calvin PettiteJames Calvin Pettite, 78, Newnan, formerly of East Point, died Aug. 18, 2005. He was born July 14, 1927 in Cedartown, Ga., son of Calvin and Millie Pettite. He joined the United States Army in 1946, later transferring to the Air Force. In the Korean Conflict, he served as a Load Master, retiring after 30 years of service. He and his wife moved to East Point in the early 1960s and to Newnan in 1971. He worked for Newnan Motor Company as a frame technician until his retirement. Services were at the Jones Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Ken Norton and Pastor Searcy Jackson officiating. Interment was at Holly Hills Cemetery, Fairburn. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Edna Pettite; a son, Kenneth Smokey Pettite, Newnan; daughters, Jima and Bill Hosmer, and Tracy and Dan Dunsmore, all of Newnan, and Lisa Kim Pettite, Fancy Gap, Va.; a brother, Jerry and Carolyn Pettite, McDonough; sister, Joyce and Foster Padgett, Asheville, NC; a brother-in-law, William T. Billy Joe McCutcheonBilly Joe McCutcheon, 66, Newnan, died Aug. 18, 2005. He was born Sept. 8, 1944 in Waco, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer N. and Jimmie Andre McCucheon, and a brother, James Allen McCutcheon. He was a graduate of Texas Tech University, Lubbock, and was retired from Braniff Airlines as a director of Customer Services with 18 years of service. He was a member of Whiteoak Country Club and the First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City. His passion was his garden and flowers. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Helen Jerome McCutcheon, Newnan; a son, Travis J. McCutcheon, Athens, Ga.; daughters, Rendi McCutcheon Foster-Sellens and her husband, Bryan Sellens, Ft. Worth, Texas, and Amanda Jo McCutcheon, Dallas, Texas; a brother, Brian Eugene and Joni McCutcheon, Houston, Texas; granddaughters, Ashton Foster, Arin Foster, and Regan Sellens. Brandon Allen PhillipsBrandon Allen Phillips, 19, Newnan, died Aug. 19, 2005. His death was due to injuries received Aug. 8, 2005. He was employed as a construction worker.
