He married in 1969, living in Romania until 1988, then he moved to Holland, and in 1991, moved to America. He worked for Snapper Products until his retirement in 2002. Services were at the Jones Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Father Nicolae Clempus officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Cemetery, Peachtree City. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Veronica Porupca; daughters, Roxana Gazinschi, Fayetteville, and Daniela Duran; a sister, Virginia Balan; and three grandchildren. Colonel with the United States Army with 20 years service as a Military Police Officer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Georgia State Skeet Association. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Proffitt ONeal, and a granddaughter, Kimberly Brown. He was retired from Delta Air Lines after 29 years of employment. He and his wife own and operated PaPa JuJus Collectibles in Sharpsburg. Services were at the Lisbon Baptist Church, Fayetteville with interment at the church cemetery. The Rev. Jerry J. CrozierJerry J. Crozier, 60, Peachtree City, died Aug. 10, 2005. He was born Dec. 5, 1944 in Fort Gaines. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Crozier. He attended Georgia Southwestern College, Americus, and graduated from the University of Georgia, Athens, in 1966. He was in the United States Army Reserve from 1966-1972. He was very involved with the early development of Peachtree City, was the president of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce in 1973, and was active in the Kiwanis Club. He was a founding member of the Peachtree City United Methodist Church. As executive vice-president of the Fayette State Bank, 1966-1986, his knowledge and support contributed to the financial success of many new businesses in the area. He and his wife built several hundred homes in Fayette County under the name of Accent Homes, Inc. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel, Peachtree City. Survivors include his wife, Charlene M. He was born April 2, 1912 in East Point, son of the late Howell and Nellie Suttles. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Kathryn Kay Suttles, and a sister, Rubye and Edwin Baggett. One of his earliest memories is marching up and down the street and banging on pots and pans to celebrate the end of World War I. He was graduated from Russell High School, East Point, and played the clarinet in the Georgia National Guard. The band would occasionally travel with Sen. Herman Talmadge. He also marched in one of Pres. Franklin Roosevelts inaugural parades in Washington, D. C. He served in the United States Navy in World War II and was one of the first sailors assigned to set up the naval base in Charleston, S. C. He was stationed at the Panama Canal during the last half of the war. He then worked for Fulton County, retiring as the assistant director of the Public Buildings Department. After retirement he and his wife were active in the East Point AARP, where he served as tour director for 14 years. Eventually they moved to Peachtree City. He was a member of Mount Gilead United Methodist Church and in Peachtree City, and regularly attended Faith Bible Church, Sharpsburg. Graveside services were at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City, with Pastor John Crotts officiating. Survivors include his daughter, Martha and Sanford Peace, Peachtree City; a grandson, David and Jaimee Peace; a granddaughter, Anna and Tony Maupin; 10 great-grandchildren; and a nephew, William and Jane Boring, Pine Knolls, N. James Arthur PayneJames Arthur Payne, 87, Fayetteville, died Aug. 11, 2005. He was born June 6, 1918 in Fulton County, Ga. He served in the United States Army in World War II. He worked for both the State government and the Federal government for 42 years. He retired as the Southeast Regional Assistant Administrator for the Department of Labor. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Dr. Dan Roberts officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Catherine Payne, Fayetteville; a son, Jimmy and Pam Payne, Fayetteville; grandsons, Jason and Dusty Payne, Fayetteville; a brother, William and Jean Payne, Albany; and sisters, Marie Grant, Smyrna, and Annie and Lamar Harper, Carnesville. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge. Claude A. HermanClaude A. Herman, 75, Peachtree City, died Aug. 12, 2005. He was born Dec. 31, 1929 in Marion, N. Y., son of the late John and Mina Billings Herman. He was their only child. He was graduated from Marion High School in 1949 and joined the United States Air Force in 1950. He served as a flight engineer on air evacuation missions of injured servicemen in Korea. He attained the rank of staff sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was a devoted father who taught his children to love and appreciate nature. He served a four-year apprenticeship in the field of carpentry at the Milwaukee Area Technical College and became a foreman even before finishing his apprenticeship. He eventually established his own general contracting company, retiring at the age of 60 due to health concerns. He regularly attended the Community of Christ Church and enjoyed working around the church. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel. Survivors include his wife, Roberta, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage on Dec. 4, 2004, Peachtree City; sons, John and Karen Ehlenfield Herman, Sharpsburg, Dennis and Amy Parker Herman, Eagle River, Wisc., and David Herman, Arbor Vitae, Wisc.; a daughter, Vickie and Allen McNulty, Sunshine, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
