Bad Links? | Channel repairs necessary near Lake PeachtreeA concrete section of the channel leading away from the Lake Peachtree spillway was damaged in recent storms. Repairs, estimated at $35,000, likely will be made in October and it will be necessary to lower the lake level to accomplish the fix, said David Jaeger, consulting engineer to the Fayette County Water Department. The concrete section that was damaged was designed to prevent erosion along the banks of the channel as water from Lake Peachtree is released, Jaeger said. The countys Water Committee is recommending the repairs be made, but the final decision rests with the Board of Commissioners. The repairs may come well under the $35,000 estimate, Jaeger told the committee last week. John Munford |
