Joseph Michael Franklin IVJoseph Michael Franklin IV, 24, died July 26, 2005, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., in an automobile accident. He was born Oct. 4, 1980 in Fairfield, Solano County, Calif. He was a 1999 graduate of Fayette County High School where he was a member of the school soccer team and the Fayette County Lightning Soccer Club. He was a communications major at the University of Alabama and a member of Psi Chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Services were at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Westmoreland and the Rev. Royeese Stowe officiating. Interment was at Bellevue Cemetery, Danville, Ky. Among the pallbearers were members of the 1999 Delta Kappa Epsilon pledge class. Survivors include his parents, Mike and Camille Franklin, Fayetteville; and a sister, Mary Katherine Franklin, Fayetteville. He was retired after 25 years of service with the Fulton County Board of Education. He had served for several years as a Baptist minister. Services were at the Stockbridge First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Barner and the Rev. Steve Murell officiating. Interment was at Flippen United Methodist Cemetery, Flippen, Henry County. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Moselle Hicks Phillips, Fayetteville; daughters, Joanne Caldwell, Sara and George Lawrence, Pat and Hulan Stanfield, and Betty and Jake Belin; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Shirley Thomas, Newnan, and Wayne Thomas, Harold Thomas, Marlene Askew, and Edgar Thomas, all of Fayetteville; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Clarence Hall, Fayetteville, Elsie Mae Roberts, Griffin, and Floyd Hall, High Falls. She was born Dec. 21, 1926, in Chattanooga, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Lavern J. Rodgers, on April 22, 1993, and sisters, Edna McCraw, in 1994, and Margaret Renner, in 2003. She had lived in Peachtree City for the past 11 years. She was member of First Presbyterian Church, Peachtree City, and was a member of the Fairburn-Union City chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. Memorial services are tomorrow, Aug. 4, at the First Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City. Survivors include a son, Michael Rodgers, Gifford, Ill.; a daughter, Wanda Jennings, Peachtree City; brothers, Samuel McAllister, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Tate McAllister, Reno, Nev.; sisters, Dorothy Davidson, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Virginia Russell, Olive Branch, Miss.; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
