Bad Links? | Floral classes available at UWGFlower lovers can enjoy the bounty of summer blooms right through the holidays with a series of Floral Design programs offered by the University of West Georgias Department of Continuing Education. Participants may register for one or all of the six two-hour classes that focus on designing professional-quality floral arrangements. Completing all twelve hours of the series and developing a portfolio of finished projects will earn a certificate that can open new career paths in the floral design industry. Noted local floral designers will share their wisdom and experience in flower arranging in a comfortably paced, hands-on environment. In addition to developing artistic skills, course participants will take home every design they create to enhance their home or office environment. This is primarily a hands-on class and there will be a finished project each week. Topics include bud vase bouquets, corsages, bouquets in mugs and small containers, displaying roses, one-sided centerpieces, hand-tied arrangements and round centerpieces. Registration deadline for each class is the Friday prior to the class starting date. Individual classes are $28 each; the entire certificate program is $149. There will be an additional cost of approximately $25 for supplies for each class. Classes will meet every other Tuesday on the Newnan campus of the University of West Georgia from 7-9 p.m. beginning Aug. 16. For more information or to register, call Continuing Education at 678-839-6611 or visit www.uwgce.com.
