Bad Links? | Tennis synergy a topic for Tourism Assn. retreatBy JOHN MUNFORD The Peachtree City Tourism Association will convene a retreat meeting Saturday morning at Callaway Gardens. The meeting will include a team building exercise and various topics that will be discussed. One of the areas will center on how to merge the programs at the tennis center with the various tennis classes offered by the citys recreation department on its tennis courts, officials said. Association member Bob King said at Wednesdays regular meeting that the group would talk about the direction they should be going in in the future year, looking at the coming budget year and beyond. Also, the association will delve into other tennis programming issues and the concert series offered at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater, which is also operated by the association. In other business, the authority voted to support a new theater group that wants to use the city amphitheater to hold a production of The Sound of Music. The authority did not commit to the funding request of $4,500 from the Twilight Theater Group, but members indicated a willingness to negotiate with Twilight representatives. The group wants to build up to having three plays a year and the tentative production dates are set for Oct. 13-16. Twilight also plans to host drama camps for children and also implement a senior theater project. The association also learned that the advisory committees for the tennis center and amphitheater were about to have their first regularly scheduled meetings. The association also decided to create an advisory committee for the newly created visitors center. Gary noted that the tennis centers advisory committee has met one time previously to get input on the various proposals received for the centers restaurant operation.
