Bad Links? | Patriots and Wildcats 2005 season announcedBy MICHAEL BOYLAN The football schedules for the 2005 high school season have been released and Sandy Creek and Whitewater High School appear to have an exciting season ahead of them. Sandy Creek, under new head coach Chip Walker, will be playing in their final season in 4-AAAA. They will be seeking their third consecutive region championship and their third straight undefeated regular season. There are no long strecthes at home or on the road for the Patriots, who finished with a record of 11-1 last year. Sandy Creek opens the season on the road Aug. 19 against Villa Rica (6-4 last year) and follows it up with what promises to be a competitive home game against Northgate (8-3) on Sept. 2. On Sept. 9, the Patriots travel to Peachtree City to face the McIntosh Chiefs (6-4) and on Sept. 16, Sandy Creek will host the Chapel Hill Panthers (1-9). The Patriots travel to Douglas County (6-5) on Sept. 23 and close out the month with a home game against the Lithia Springs Lions (3-7) on Sept. 30. October starts with Sandy Creek at Woodward Academy (5-5) on Oct. 7. They will follow that game up with a home game against Haralson County (2-8) on Oct. 14, an away game at Alexander (1-9) on Oct. 21 and a home game against Creekside (10-2) on Oct. 28. Whitewater will play one more year of a non-region schedule before playing a 4-AAAA schedule in 2006. The Wildcats went 6-3 last year with a team made up entirely of freshmen and sophomores. This year they will have a junior class and their expectations will be a lot higher. They will open the season on Aug. 19 with a game against Temple (3-7) and will follow it up with four straight home games hosting Heard County (6-4) on Aug. 26, Carver-Atlanta (0-8) Sept. 9, North Oconee (0-10) Sept. 16 and Dutchtown (1-9) Sept. 23. They will close out the month of September with a game at Landmark Christian (7-5) on Sept. 30. October begins with a game at Athens Academy (11-2) on Oct. 7. They will then host Alpharetta (1-8) on Oct. 14 before playing their final two games of the season on the road. On Oct. 21, the Wildcats will play at Mill Creek (3-7) and will close out the season on Thursday, oct. 27 at North Oconee (0-10).
