Bad Links? | Tyrone cops nab 4 teens in vandalismBy LEE WILLIAMS Tyrone police collared two juveniles and two adults who are accused of raiding the Tyrone Athletic Parks concession stand for snacks and vandalizing at least three other pieces of property earlier this month. During a day of mischief that occurred sometime between 3 a.m. July 6 and 3 a.m. July 7, the vandals also damaged a truck window, a window at Townsel Heating and Air and a window on a trailer at Tyrone Elementary School, according to Tyrone police reports. Total estimated damage is still unreported. Andrew Flaugher, 17, and Jeremy Heil, 17, both of Handley Court, and two juveniles the alleged culprits now face charges of burglary and second-degree criminal damage to property in connection with the vandalism, police said. The two juveniles also will face charges of unruly child in connection with the incident, officials added. Two officers, Cpl. Matthew New and Officer Matt Morgan, were out on patrol on July 6 when they noticed a large barrel that was pushed into the road. Upon further investigation, police discovered the window on a work truck parked at Caboose Lane and a window at Townsel Heating and Air, 859 Senoia Rd., had been smashed. Police spoke with the owner the following morning and noticed a footprint in the mud that ran alongside the building and they went to the home of two teen boys that had been walking in the general area to see if the footprints belonged to them, police said. The juvenile told police that he did not break anything, but he would tell police who did break the window to the truck. The juvenile allegedly told police that his friends, Heil, another juvenile and Flaugher broke both windows. Police spoke with Heil and his parents and thats when the confessions began, authorities said. Jeremy stated that he was at fault for the truck window, but did not break the building window, police said. Jeremy then stated a juvenile broke the store window, trailer window at Tyrone Elementary and assisted him with breaking the truck window. Flaugher, on the other hand, denied his involvement, police said. However, Flaugher told police that a juvenile broke the window to the building and kicked in the window, police said. After reading Heil his rights, Heil later told police that Flaugher kicked in the door to the concession stand at Tyrone Athletic Park. The park is owned by the Tyrone Recreation Department, which is run by the town of Tyrone. Heil then told police that the parties entered the stand and stole candy and Popsicles, police said. |
