Bad Links? | Packers prepare for an exciting 2005 seasonBy BRITTANY WHITLEY The Peachtree City Youth Football and Cheerleading Association, better known as the Peachtree City Packers, started their 2005 season with registration in April and May at the Kedron Aquatic Center. Ending last season with four championship teams, the Packers are off to a great start in 2005 with over 500 football players and over 160 cheerleaders signed up to play and cheer. Board members and coaches of the Peachtree City Packers strive to provide a fun and competitive learning environment for young football players and cheerleaders. The board is an independent organization in charge of making sure that everything runs smoothly and the children are presented with a fair and safe environment in which to take part in football and cheerleading. The coaches of the Peachtree City Youth Football and Cheerleading Association are also off to a great start this year, eight out of ten of the coaches of the Peachtree City Packers attended the University of Georgia coaches clinic in Athens; the Peachtree City Packers were the only youth organization at the event. To insure a safe, fun, and competitive environment the Peachtree City Packers offer three different divisions of football and cheerleading. Division I is a competitive program for football players and cheerleaders; this division requires a try-out to partake. For children not placed on a Division I team there are Division II and Intra-county football and cheerleading. The Division II teams are designed to give players, who were not put onto a Division I team, a competitive environment in which to develop their skills. Intra-County football and cheerleading is a program designed for new players and for children not placed on a Division I or a Division II team; Intra-Countys football players and cheerleaders do not travel outside of Fayette County. Now that registration over, the board, coaches, football players, and cheerleaders are excited about a great 2005 season and hopefully will walk away with four more championships under their belts. |
