Bad Links? | No state road construction during holiday weekendThe Georgia Department of Transportation is suspending all non-emergency construction and maintenance projects throughout the state in conjunction with the July 4 holiday observance. In general, work will conclude today and not resume until the morning of July 5. Motorists are nonetheless advised to exercise caution in what is expected to be heavy traffic across Georgia, and particularly so in construction areas, where narrowed or shifted lanes may remain in place and heavy equipment staged. Georgia DOT encourages the public to access NaviGAtor travel planning aides at its Web site (www.georgia-navigator.com) for trip times and traffic incident information, and also use the site to establish their own My NaviGAtor report for personalized, real-time traffic information. Motorists also may call the Departments traffic hotline toll free, 24 hours, seven days a week, at 1-800-419-GDOT; or call *DOT on Verizon or Cingular cellular phones.
