Bad Links? | Students read books to help a teacherHuddlestons physical education teacher, Michael Davis, was hit with a double whammy this year. Not only was he diagnosed with cancer but he was also told that his health insurance would not cover all medical expenses. After learning about Davis situation, an anonymous donor challenged the schools students to an Accelerated Reader (AR) read-a thon. During May 9-11, the donor agreed to give $1 for every AR test students passed with an 80 percent or higher. On the last day of the challenge, 1,800 tests had been taken and passed. The donor rounded the amount up to $2,000 and AR Coordinator Jeanette Barnhill presented the check to the students during Huddlestons AR celebration in May. |
