Bad Links? | DAPC to dabble in land planning?By JOHN MUNFORD Peachtree Citys Development Authority may just be finding its niche. The authority plans to work with city planning staff to develop ideas for particular sites in hopes of attracting developers to fund projects here, said Authority Chairman Steve Fraas. The authority, however, wont get involved in operating those developments, as they did with the citys tennis center and amphitheater, he added. The authority might eventually commission renderings of, say, how a corporate campus would look on a certain piece of property, Fraas said. That document could be used to woo businesses into moving here, he added. The authoritys plans wont step on the toes of the countys development authority, which handles all industry and large-scale business recruitment, Fraas said. The DAPC is hoping to work in conjunction with their county counterparts, as DAPC vice chair Steve Savage is serving as the groups liaison, Fraas said. We want to work in concert with them, Fraas said of the Fayette County Development Authority. Authority member Todd Strickland is serving as the liaison with city planning staff, Fraas noted. In other business, the DAPC decided at its last meeting to ask the City Council for another $6,000 in funding for the current fiscal year. Unpaid legal fees account for $4,500 of the request, and another $600 is budgeted for legal fees the rest of the year. Another $900 of the figure is for unforeseen expenses, Fraas noted. |
