Bad Links? | Family-owned business remains in the familyby ASHLEY HORNE Decades ago, local shops and businesses were family-owned. As the years went by the keys to the store would be handed down through the generations. The community and the family-owned shop would grow and prosper together. That was just the idea Jimmy Marlowe had when he opened Peachy Clean Carwash and Lube in 1996. Already retired from the paper industry after years in sales and production with Asten-Johnson, he decided Peachtree City needed a taste of the past, of when caring and car maintenance were synonymous. Now he has decided to hand the keys over to his son Ben and daughter-in-law Terry. Ben works in the paper industry in sales for Weavexx and Terry is a realtor for Prudential Georgia in Peachtree City. Terry recognizes the charm of Peachy Clean. Its a great place to meet people and socialize; you never know whos going to come in or what the conversation might be, she said. People tell us everyday how much they love coming to Peachy Clean and how friendly everyone is! With this change in ownership Peachy Clean has received an overall makeover, with a refurbished lobby where customers can now watch television or work on their laptops while their cars are being serviced. The area surrounding Peachy Clean is also undergoing transitions due to the new Home Depot and Super Wal-Mart. It is located on Ga. Highway 54 between Planterra Ridge and Days Inn. Peachy Clean Carwash and Lube offers its customers a full-service lube which includes a 21-point inspection along with an oil change and car wash. Customers can also have their cars detailed, hand-waxed, steam-cleaned and vacuumed. Monday is Realtor Day in which practitioners can receive $2 off any car wash. Men receive a discount on Tuesday while Ladies Day is recognized on Wednesday. Customers who visit Peachy Clean on their birthday will receive a free car wash. Jimmy Marlowe is looking forward to spending more time with his wife Dottie and his nine grandchildren. I want to see my Dad enjoy life, said Ben. He has always been a hard worker and now its time for him to fish, play golf and just relax. Jimmy will miss his daily connection with the community, which is why you still might catch him at Peachy Clean. Ben and Terry plan to follow Jimmys example of giving Peachy Clean Carwash and Lube customers the friendly service they deserve. Terry is excited about managing Peachy Clean, saying, its always been a family-owned business and it still is. |
