What do you think of this story? Bad Links? | The plays the thing.Noises Off! Opens Friday at NTC
Door-slamming, heart-pounding, sardine-eating, drawer-dropping hilarity comes to Newnan with Newnan Theatre Companys latest Main Stage show Noises Off! Prepare to be amazed, and amused, as six local actors and their stage crew show you that professional theater isnt just for professionals anymore. Their director will be on hand to yell, scream and whip them into shape. This farce-within-a-farce about actors acting as actors acting characters is a theatrical joyride, hailed by New York Times critic Frank Rich when Noises first opened as one of the most sustained slapstick ballets Ive ever seen. Written by Michael Frayn, this three-act play will have you rolling in the aisles as it follows the cast and crew of Nothing On throughout their theatrical tour through America. Nothing On is a British sex farce that our talented group of Americans try desperately to pull off with very little rehearsal. As a member of the Noises Off audience, you will be privy to the behind the scenes action that the average theatergoer never gets to seethe drama of rehearsal, the tension of a running show and the utter despair that actors feel when things go awry. Dont miss the wild action of Noises Off or you may never know what actually goes on behind the scenes. Many new faces join the theatre in this cast, as well as several veterans. The show is directed by newcomer Trey Stephens who, in true community theater tradition, will also play one of the roles in the show. The phrase noises off is theatre jargon for a commotion offstage. But in Noises Off, the commotion is onstage, created by a troupe of has-been and never-were actors touring in a British sex farce called Nothing On. Michael Frayn gives us a backstage - and onstage - peek at a show in which every actors nightmare unfolds with uproarious results. Noises Off opens Friday, June 10 and runs through Sunday, June 26. Friday and Saturday night performances begin at 8 p.m. Sunday shows are matinees and begin at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults $10 for students and seniors. Seating is Limited so call 770-683-6282 to make reservations. Visit www.newnantheatre.com for more information. | | |
