Bad Links? | LCS marks first year in Peachtree CityLandmark Christian School is celebrating the successful first year of its first satellite elementary school. Located in Peachtree City, the satellite school offers the same programming as the elementary school located on Landmarks Fairburn campus and serves as a feeder school for Landmarks middle and high schools. Landmarks elementary school principal, Kelli Penn, is excited about the schools first year. I think its been a fabulous year. The faculty and staff have really enjoyed it and the parents and children seem really pleased. I think the word is getting into the community that Landmark in Peachtree City is an exciting place to be. The satellite school, which enrolls children in K-4 to fifth grade, had an enrollment of 48 kids for the 2004-05 school year and is expecting a 30 to 40 percent increase in enrollment for the 2005-06 school year. Landmark Headmaster Matt Skinner sees the success of the initial year of the satellite in context of the overall plans for the school. The first year exceeded my expectations in how the logistical issues and functionality of the school have worked. This has really served as confirmation that this is a good strategy for us to pursue. That strategy is part of a long-term approach designed to aid in the growth and impact of Landmark Christian School and was included in the schools original plan when it opened in 1989. Future satellite sites under consideration include Douglasville, East Coweta and Jonesboro. The Peachtree City satellite school is at 777 Robinson Road, which Landmark has agreed to purchase from Braelinn Baptist Church. With its location in Peachtree City, the satellite school offers a convenient option to families who dont live close to the main Fairburn campus. There is also a shuttle service between the two campuses for parents with children enrolled in different grades. Overall, Landmarks move into Peachtree City has been a positive one. Landmark is a great opportunity for Peachtree City in that it provides students with a quality education and the biblical focus that many families desire, said Peachtree City Mayor Steve Brown. Landmark Christian School is a private, non-denominational Christian school, which offers rigorous academics, small class sizes, excellent fine arts programs and Georgia High School championship athletics. Graduates of Landmark Christian School leave with a solid biblical worldview and the academic preparation to be accepted at the best schools in the nation.
