Bad Links? | Students poetry to be publishedThe poetry of 12 Fayette second-graders is among the select pieces chosen for publication in a national literary magazine this summer. Second grade enrichment students from Huddleston and Oak Grove Elementary schools will have their poems published in the 2005 edition of Young American Poetry Digest. The students are (Huddleston) Taylor Snell, Cole Davis, Kyle Epstein, Ian McGraw, Cassandra Wincek, (Oak Grove) Jennifer Beagley, Gianni Martino, Haley Febrey, Sarah McBride, Laura Landis, Rachel Moore and Mira Bookman. The students submitted their poetry in March to a competition sponsored by the National Schools Project, an organization dedicated to encouraging young students to develop an interest in writing and enjoying poetry. The organization is also the publisher of the Poetry Digest. A committee of teachers reviewed the poetry submissions and selected the poems they felt were well written based on the childs age and grade. The 2005 edition of Young American Poetry Digest will be out in the fall. |
