What do you think of this story? Bad Links? | Swingin at the YPeachtree Jazz Edition back In The Mood
Great music and good times never go out of style. So grab your best gal and your zoot suit for night of dancing and jazz. The Peachtree Jazz Edition, a Peachtree City based big band organization under the directorship of David Gaissert will have things jumpin at the YMCA Pavilion big band swing dance June 11 from 8 - 11 p.m. Pam Young, Director of the Fayette Family YMCA said Im excited and anticipate this under the stars event will provide a fun evening and premium entertainment for adults and older teens. It will provide an opportunity for the local community to gather, have a fun evening, utilize our large outdoor facility, and learn more about their local YMCA programs, Proceeds from the event will go towards the YMCA Partner with Youth annual giving campaign which provides YMCA programs for children, families and active older adults regardless of their ability to pay. The Peachtree Jazz Edition has performed throughout the metro Atlanta area and always delights audiences with their renditions of classic swing melodies by great entertainers such as Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Ella Fitzgerald, Natalie Cole and others. Also included are the Glenn Miller tunes such as In The Mood, A String Of Pearls, and Tuxedo Junction. Styles played include Latin, tango, and waltz rhythms as well as more contemporary numbers such as Downtown, A Hard Days Night, Yesterday, Hold On Im Coming (Sam and Dave), I Wish (Stevie Wonder), or Fantasy (Earth, Wind, and Fire). Vocals are performed by Toni Percival, a resident of Tyrone. Toni has been performing professionally since she was three years old, Director Gaissert said. She does an outstanding job. Tickets will be available at the Y facility gate on the evening of the event. Students will be admitted for $5 and adult tickets are $9. Ticket sales at the gate begin at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be available under the pavilion. The YMCA pavilion is located at 215 Huiet Rd., Fayetteville, home of the Fayette Play Park.
