Bad Links? | Makeover project set for youth homeHelp is being sought from local residents for a project that will provide an interior makeover for children at a local foster home. Children at the Friday home, which is operated by Fayette Youth Protection Homes, will benefit from the project. FYPH takes in children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. The projects goal is to revamp the interior decorating for the children to enhance the warm, loving environment and oversight by the house parents and staff. Individuals or groups can adopt an entire room to sponsor or they can purchase something as small as a lamp, said project coordinator Donna Harrell. This is a very fun project with tangible results, she added. This extreme makeover will include murals from local interior designer Jamie Georgia and her design team at Miscela Bela, which have donated their services to the project for freshly painted murals. Everything in the rooms will be replaced from the flooring to the furniture to the bedspreads to the light fixtures. Square Foot Ministries, a group of local churches that helps needy residents with home improvements, will donate the labor for the renovation. Whatever we can do to make the home more cheerful and welcoming, the better that child is going to feel when he or she walks through that door, Georgia said. To contribute to the project, call Executive Director Becky Davenport at 770-461-7020. |
