DHR invites public comment on Babies Cant WaitThe Babies Can't Wait Program is Georgias statewide early intervention system for infants and toddlers with special needs, ages birth to three, and their families. The Georgia Department of Human Resources Division of Public Health is the lead agency for administration of the BCW system. In November 2004, the federal law that established BCW, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act was re-authorized by Congress and IDEA 2004 was signed into law by President Bush Dec. 3, 2004. DHR has developed a new federal grant application that reflects changes made in IDEA. BCW invites interested persons to participate in a 60-day public comment period that will run through July 2. The public may review the grant application online (http://health.state.ga.us) or at locations throughout the state and comment in four ways. Written comments will be received until July 2 at Babies Can't Wait, 2 Peachtree Street NW, Suite 11-206, Atlanta, GA 30303-3186. E-mail comments will be received until July 2 at skmoss@dhr.state.ga.us. Fax comments will be received until July 2 at 404-657-2763. DHR invites interested persons to attend Public Hearings and present public comments. To allow an opportunity for all to be heard, comments will be limited to five minutes.
