Bad Links? | The God Squad does it again
It's that time of year again. Year-end programs and presentations. Final concerts and performances. Honors banquets and ceremonies. State play-offs and closing recitals. Our cup runneth over. And once again we stand to acknowledge and give thanks to you, the youth of our community, for all you mean to our quality and enjoyment of life here together. Thank you and God bless you. One of these year-end culminations of hard work and faithful perseverance will be provided by The God Squad and will happen May 13. Yes, that's Friday The 13th, but no silly superstition will stop the success of this endeavor. And yes, that's the night before at least one prom, but that makes it even more possible to attend because nothing much else is going on. What's happening that night is the work of forty top-notch high school youth, who will make a statement for their beliefs and values as they present the Christian youth musical, Life On The Edge. The God Squad is made up of real youth talking about real life. Life On The Edge reveals the reality that our time is potentially distorted by deep confusion, and yet there is hope. The God Squad's message is that we are living right now in a time of hope because families everywhere are coming together as never before and committing to one another that they will be there for each other through good as well as difficult times. The God Squad's goal is to get teens and parents thinking about why God has placed them in their particular world. It's to get them talking about the fact that we need each other to get through these days of uncertainty. It's to affirm together that God is God and we can trust Him and depend on Him no matter what. It's to celebrate that every day is new, and that His grace and love are given to us again and again every morning. The God Squad wants their parents and their peers to know that yes, our lives are often on the edge, but whether we are a teen or an adult, we can know that God always overcomes the world. His good overcomes evil at every point. That's the best message there is, and it comes from the mouths of our youth. Isnt that just like them?! The God Squad wants any and all teens, pre-teens, children, parents, and families to come and see and enjoy this entertaining and important show. It's full of live upbeat music, choreography, drama, and truth. I know everyone who comes will be extremely glad you did. The show is May 13 at 7 p.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Life Center, on Ga. Highway 314 in Fayetteville, between Lowe's and The Pavilion. For more information log-on at www. popdove.com or call 770-461-3403. Thanks to you, God Squad! And to all the great youth of our community! We'll be there for you! |
