Bad Links? | Police say couple passed phony check to buy homeA Senoia couple were arrested Thursday after they wrote a counterfeit check for $349,900 to purchase a home there, police said. Donald Ray Skinner was charged with forgery in the first degree and Carolyn Allene Skinner was charged with being party to the crime of forgery in the first degree, police said. Because the check was presented to a local attorney in Peachtree City, the case is being investigated by the Peachtree City Police Department, officials said. After signing the closing papers, the couple quickly moved out of their rental home and into the new residence, a home on a large 12-acre tract of land, police said. The Coweta County Sheriffs Department assisted Peachtree City detectives in executing a search warrant on the Skinners new residence. Additional charges are expected and the case is still being actively worked, police said. Police are looking for anyone who may have received a payroll check from either of the Skinners, or anyone else who may have information that could help the investigation. Such persons should contact the police departments criminal investigations division at 770-631-2510. Callers may remain anonymous. |
