Bad Links? | McIntosh opens region tourney with winsMcIntoshs boys and girls tennis teams played in the Buckhead Rotary tournament over the weekend. The boys won in the first round defeating Harrison 4-1. Singles players with wins for the Chiefs were Stefan James, Nathan She and Joe Styga, while the doubles team of Will truex and Alexander Reimer also won. In the semi-finals, McIntosh faced Pace Academy and lost 3-2. Styga was the lone winner for the Chiefs in singles and the doubles team of Truex and Reimer were the winners in doubles. The girls team lost to Lovett 3-0 in the first round and fell to UMS-Wright out of Mobile, Ala. 3-1. Stephanie Daughenbaugh was the lone winner in the tournament for the Lady Chiefs. McIntosh began region tournament play on Monday with matches against Sandy Creek. Both the boys and girls teams won 5-0. James won 10-5, She won 10-7 and Styga won 10-0, while the doubles team of Reimer and Francois Pienaar won 10-0 and the team of Truex and David Widtfeldt won 10-4. On the girls side, Kendall Wilde, Keegan Vining and Daughenbaugh won 10-1, while the doubles team of Lauren Wilde and Lyndsi Tufte won 10-2 and the team of Kristin Cobb and Jessica Piester won 10-6. |
