Bad Links? | Prepare for race drama, trafficBy MICHAEL BOYLAN Unless you are traveling to France this summer, this will be the last time you will be able to see six-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong race competitively. The Dodge Tour de Georgia will kick off its second stage in Fayetteville today and will journey through Peachtree City and Tyrone on its way to Rome, Ga. The race will continue through the North Georgia mountains before finishing in Alpharetta on Sunday. In addition to Armstrongs Discovery Channel team, 13 other teams and hundreds of other cyclists will be competing for the yellow jersey and the tour win. This is a race where cyclists make names for themselves and with Armstrong planning to retire after this years Tour de France, the throne will be empty and ready for a new cyclist to step up and take over. Though there will be traffic delays throughout the county today, the excitement is palpable. Fans will get to meet cyclists before the race around the old courthouse square in Fayetteville and once the race begins they will line the streets cheering the charging peloton on. Updates will be available at tourdegeorgia.org and on Outdoor Life Network. |
