Bad Links? | Parade ushers in spring in Union CityBy BEN NELMS Saturday was the perfect kind of day for a parade. And thats exactly what Union City got, as the Resurrection House of All Nations put on its Second Annual Easter tribute, Parading His Glory. Above all else, it was a parade with a divine purpose. Shortly after 10 p.m., the mass of 80 vehicles, five floats and a group of motorcycles began the event at the church in Union City, just behind Shannon Mall, and headed south on Jonesboro Road. With music playing and church members waving as they passed, the parade proceeded on its miles-long route to Buffington Road and on to College Park and back. The warm spring weather and clear skies overhead provided the perfect backdrop for the event. The exuberance of church members affirmed the purpose of the event, a testimonial to what God has done in the lives of His people. That outlook was mirrored by Pastor Chika Onuzo who, standing with the parade formation at the church just before the parade began, said the inspiration and motivation for the event was to acknowledge the foundation laid by Jesus, by His resurrection and His power. We want America to know that He is still alive to answer the problems we all face, Onuzo said. He still answers prayers, He still saves. We believe its not just about going to church to learn about Jesus. Were intent of bringing the church onto the street. |
