Bad Links? | Lady Panthers hope to return to state tournament this yearThough the Starrs Mill Lady Panther golf team lost two of their top players to graduation last year, they still hold hope for contending in region play and qualifying once again for the state tournament. Coached by Jose Casablanca, the team has three new players, including two freshmen, that have brought new energy and enthusiasm to the team. The Lady Panthers are led by senior captain Leah Sanders, whose play in the region tournament last year vaulted the team from fourth place to second place. Senior Kate Staples also returns to the team this year, becoming a more consistent and determined player. Also returning to the squad this year are juniors Elizabeth Stell and Katie Tramonte, who are both showing signs of improvement and sophomore Natalie Wright, who Casablanca feels is the teams most improved player. New to the team are freshmen Lauren Hubbert and Holly Botella and junior Chelsea Mansulich. In their most recent game, the Lady Panthers lost to East Coweta 154-165. Tramonte led Starrs Mill with a 53 and Sanders and Wright both shot 59s. The Starrs Mill boys also lost to the Indians, 145-155. Bo Tiller shot a 37 and Connor McBean shot a 38.
