Bad Links? | Big baseball tournament coming to PTCApril is your month if you like baseball. The Peachtree City Georgia Baseball Association (PTCGBA) has organized some tournaments that have attracted teams from all over the United States. Teams from all over the Southeast and as far away as Michigan will descend upon Peachtree City to play in the Elite 24 Super NIT youth tournament on Apr. 1-3 and the BPA Super Qualifier youth tournament on Apr. 8-10. Over 200 teams will participate in the two events. We are extremely excited to have 2,500 players and over 8,000 fans coming to play baseball and pitch their money into our local economy, said Peachtree City Mayor Steve Brown. The tournaments have already sold out over 60 percent of the hotel rooms in the city and the percentage is climbing every week. Our hotels, motels and restaurants are going to reap some huge rewards from these tournaments and we are very grateful to the PTCGBA for making this happen, said Brown who will throw out the opening pitch on Apr. 1. Mayor Brown has been a strong proponent of enabling local Peachtree City sports associations to attract large tournaments. The hotel/motel taxes generated from local sports tournaments fund the operation of Falcon Field Airport, multi-use path improvements and other efforts to attract more tourism opportunities. The ages of the athletes participating in the tournaments range from 6 to 14. The winners of the Elite 24 Super NIT win an automatic berth the USSSA Elite 24 World Series at Disneys Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. |
