Bad Links? | Fville police hunt for Subway robberBy LEE WILLIAMS Fast-food workers startling reaction to a demand for money might have foiled an armed robbers attempt at a Subway restaurant on Ga. Highway 54 West near Gingercake Road, police said. On Sunday night, a white male with brown hair walked into Subway wearing a mask, Fayetteville Police Detective Steve Crawshaw said. He pulled out a pocket knife and demanded money, Crawshaw said. All of the employees ran into the back room and he left. The suspect didnt get a dime, authorities said. Moments after the alleged incident, Fayetteville police searched the area and Fayette County Sheriff Departments Hawk One helicopter scanned above. Some residents in the area reported the helicopter hovered between 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., prompting them to call authorities. Authorities reportedly confirmed they were looking for a suspect and informed residents to lock their doors. Sundays armed robbery was the third such incident reported in Fayetteville in roughly 14 weeks. On Feb. 9, two gunmen robbed Burger King on Glynn Street. The suspects got away with $1,000 in cash. On Dec. 7, a brazen suspect allegedly robbed the GNC vitamin store on Pavilion Parkway in broad daylight. The suspect tied an employee up with a cell phone charger cord and ran away after scooping up an undetermined amount of cash. |
