Bad Links? | Pods to help fire victimsBy JOHN MUNFORD Once a structure fire is extinguished by Peachtree City firefighters, they begin work on job number two: doing their best to protect the belongings threatened by further smoke and water damage. Now, those victims will have a safe place to temporarily store those belongings out of harms way thanks to Mobile Storage Depot of Peachtree City. The company has pledged to deliver one of its storage pods free of charge whenever requested by the fire department to help fire victims protect precious belongings such as photos, home videos, clothing and other irreplaceable keepsakes. Fire Department Sgt. Chris Campbell noted that currently, firefighters will move personal belongings to the garage or another area of the house, but they can still be affected by the fire damage as water can seep into the garage a day or two after the fire, he noted. Bob Pope, the owner of Mobile Storage Depot, said he was more than glad to help give back to the community by offering the service.
